It was worn as Carlos Bianchi's great side carried its Copa Libertadores success into a new season, having retained the title by beating Cruz Azul on penalties, before taking Bayern Munich to extra time in the Intercontinental Cup in Tokyo.
Juan Roman Riquelme and Guillermo Barros Schelotto were the top scorers with ten goals each, and Boca finished third in both the Apertura and Clausura. Carlos Tevez, Abel Balbo and Nicolas Burdisso were also in the squad.
